Professionally Entertaining and Educating Children for Over 10 Years

I have over ten years of experience teaching, nannying, and performing for children, and I’ve worked as a children’s educator and performer all over the United States as well as in the UK and Asia. My passion for child education, knack for connecting with children on a personal level, my many years of experience and my interest in child development make me a great leader for your next family event, children’s performance class or entertainment gig!

My philosophy on working with children is founded on mutual respect. I believes children are deeply intuitive; they know what they want, and they deserve the space for significance and validation, no matter their experience. My goal when I work with children is to establish a personal and individual connection to them, make them feel listened-to and understood, and impart knowledge and entertainment with the inherent mutual respect of a fellow person and not a ‘grownup’ vs ‘child’. My background as a homeschooled student from kindergarten-12th grade gives me a unique perspective on learning and creativity which allows for a unique approach to education. I believe in learning through doing, and aim as often as possible to allow children their autonomy while keeping them safe and offering gentle guidance when necessary. I believe that clear boundaries and supervision, combined with trust and encouragement in a child’s own capability, will lead to a child’s discovery of the world around them and the joy to be gleaned from learning and trying new, challenging things.

Child Education and Entertainment Work Experience

My work with children began when I was in middle school, as a freelance babysitter. After I built up basic childcare experience and knowledge working for local families in my home state of Arizona, I began working part time at a local daycare for 1-2 year olds where I began to build a more formal education and interest in early childhood development. In high school I began expanding my leadership skills to include teaching, and over the course of my 4 years prior to college, I taught dance classes in modern, ballet and jazz and a beginning level acting class at my community rec center, as well as developing curriculum and leading several summers of musical theatre intensive camps for children ages 8-16 to rave reviews.

In college, I continued to teach summer musical theatre intensives, and embarked on my most ambitious children’s entertainment venture yet- building a successful children’s entertainment business, As You Wish Parties, which I owned and managed for the entirety of my college career before successfully selling it in 2016. As You Wish Parties provides beloved character-based entertainment events to families in the greater Tucson, AZ area. I managed the company with the support of my BFA college acting program community and was able to employ over 15 fellow actors during the course of my college career to bring wholesome, fun and skilled entertainment to the children of the AZ valley.

After I graduated college, I sold As You Wish Parties and moved to NYC, where I continue to work on-and-off professionally as a private Nanny for families in Manhattan, New Jersey, Brooklyn and Yonkers. I also worked for CAMP, a beloved NYC-based family experience store where children and their grown-ups are encouraged to come play, grow and explore together. I led classes at CAMP geared towards ages 0-9, including crafting classes, dance and theatre classes, sponsored events and birthday parties!

I have performed for children across the US in a national tour of Encore! with Chamber Theatre Productions; a classical show featuring short stories from literature giants such as Mark Twain and Guy du Maupassant. I performed for Encore! audiences of up to 2,500 children across the East Coast and central US for 4 months. I have also performed for children internationally at Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Ami and Tami, Edinburgh FF premiere 2017) and in Shenzhen, China (Yayapa Children’s Theatre). In 2019, I spent two months in China teaching children and adults classes in vocal performance, acting technique, musical theatre, and dance.
